***I don't know which of each of these things ferrets get*** but here are some causes of eye infections in pets, some of which can become severe, and some of which people can also have:
some types of worms
toxoplasmosis (ferrets get this but do not transmit it; that one I do know)
Pasteurella multocida
Streptococci
Staphylococci (ferret can get)
That was just a very quick search so double check me because I don't have time to verify that website.
