Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Sick Ferrets with curve in tail
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Try doing something your ferret enjoys and see if you get a strong right side tail curve with pleasure. We find that in some we can actually monitor degree of pleasure that way. Telemna was great that way. When something strongly pleased her she would practically have her tail held right against her right side, but if something displeased her then she would go to left side tail. We've used that for things like pain monitoring since we assume that pleasure decreases with pain. All but one of our ferrets have been like this: right for pleasure and left for displeasure since we began watching for that. (Morney was the opposite which make us wonder if she maybe was a mirror image twin.)

It this holds true with enough ferrets it can be useful in home care for sick ferrets.
