Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Hacking Cough UPDATE
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

OK Maybe I should not throw my experience in to the ring but here goes....I
have a boy from The Great Ohio Rescue who has had a cough on and off since
I have had him (4 yrs now). He has been xrayed, complete blood work,
complete exams repeatedly for this. They have never found a thing. It comes and
goes. He sounds good, heart sounds good, lungs sound good. Vet thinks it
must be an allergy.

Now I have a second generation McKid. I have now had him two years, and he
does the same thing. Been through the same routine with him. Hundreds of
dollars later, I know if they cough, it will go away in a day or two, and I
try not to freak out. So far it always has.

And I thought the reason labs use ferrets is because they can get the
common cold? Learn something new about these guys every day.

So Miko hasnt had a coughing episode since early saturday.. He didnt cough
not once yesterday or thru the night (his cage is right next to my room so
I can hear him thru the night).. I called the vet this morning and he said
to keep an eye on him and if it starts again to bring him in.. He said it
sounds like it could have been a cold/flu.. So do I go ahead and make the
appt to have him seen or do I hold off n see if it happens again?..

[Did your vet really say "a cold"? Ferrets don't get the common cold.
