Kaolin is a clay-like powder believed to work by attracting and holding onto the bacteria or germ that may be causing the diarrhea. If you are sure that the dosing you are using is correct then there has to be an underlying cause. When you tried the Kaolin Pectin, were there any other changed made dietary or otherwise?

Personally for all 5 of my fuzzies we have been using the Zupreem Grain Free kibble now very successfully for the last year and they are very happy with it. Here is a link to the MSDS;

I know I might catch a bit of criticism for this but last year I would notice that their stools would vary for no apparent reason. Nothing drastic or really anything to worry about mind you. We had tried several different diets to find one that they did well on as far as their digestion and that they really liked. Even after settling on the Zupreem Grain Free this would still happen on occasion. Their has been much discussion in regards to probiotics and digestive health so I did some research. I looked around at off the shelf products and the bacterial counts for live bacterial sources. I didn't want to use a dry form such as a powder or pill that relied on being reconstituted in the digestive tract. I decided to try an off the shelf yogurt instead. Now I know the concerns as far as sugar, lactose, and dairy with ferrets. I opted to try just regular Yoplait Lite Strawberry (blue package). It had the highest abdominal friendly bacterial count and the least amount of sugar that I could find. Within 48 hours I noted a marked stability and improvement in their stools. That was 6 months ago now. Since then I haven't had any ill side effects or any other problems. Their stools are consistently well formed with little to no mucus at all. Now I am not giving a large amount. Every morning I mix 5 separate bowls of duck soup and I add just enough of the yogurt to cover about half a penny. I also separate out the bits of fruit chunks so that it is just the yogurt.

Obviously this would not be for everyone and I'm not endorsing any products or discounting any others. This is just what has worked for our kids. Your case sounds more like their is something else going on. I am merely stating what has worked for us here and that our cases were mild and inconsistent.
