Notice that this poisoning, like thiamine deficiency from raw egg whites, can be mistaken for a very difficult to treat insulinoma case! This one of the reasons it is so important that a treating veterinarian know what is fed and what might have been gotten into. If you know someone whose ferret appears to have a hard to treat insulinoma case and you know that either of these problems might have happened then alert them, please! It would be a kindness.
Remember, too, that a number of flavored cosmetics also have xylitol in them.
