A great way to get a ferret eating again is to take a meat baby food, or a/d, or (I suspect since I haven't used it) Carnivore Care and mix it with heated water trying for a temp of about 102' which is around ferret body temp. Then put a towel on your lap and grab a spoon that is easy to lick from, and slowly, with lots of calm and gentle encouragement (even going so far as to sing little ditties with the ferret's name worked in if that makes the ferret feel calm and loved).

If the sleepiness does not reduce by Monday or Tuesday then call and ask the vet about trial lowering of the dose to find the optimal dose for now. Just leave a message for a callback.

[Singing really does work! I have one little one who has had periods of being quite ill due to chronic illness i.e., pancreatitis, etc. Her appetite is quite poor during these flare-ups but she will eat her duk soup if I sing to her, incorporating her name into the song! And I assure you my singing voice sucks, but for Sadie it works! Moderator (TD)].
