Subject: [ferrethealth] update ferret with delayed stomach emptying
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Fang saw vet yesterday, had xray, showed delayed stomach emptying. Last
night she got 3 doses of the laxastat. She began having weakness inj one
hind leg, after awhile she couldn't stand and would fall over.
I checked her and fed her during the night, but today when I got up she
was lying on her side, and was twitching and shaking.
I called the vet and he had her blood and urine tests. He said she has
very high kidney levels and a lot ofbacteria, 3+ blood, SG 1.015 protein 2+ so
she has kidney failure and infection.

results faxed to his office, Ill have to call tomorrow and see if I should be
giving 0.9 saline.
She is not twitching or shaking, I have been feeding her duck soup every
few hours, no vomiting or retching, still has diarrhea small stools, now is
not getting up to go on paper so I'm cleaning her up with warm water
everytime I find her soiled.
Any advice would be appreciated,
Thanks, and thanks so much to Jeff, he was the only response I got in
email except from the moderator. If the story has not enough information I'm
sorry, it is such a LONG story,
Debbie
