Subject: [ferrethealth] Swollen Jaw
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

This morning I noticed my little girl had a swollen jaw. I think she has an infected tooth. Do you know if I should do anything for her?
Is there anything I can do for her?
We don't have any Vets that know much about ferrets.

{She really needs to be seen by a vet. If it is a tooth issue she will likely need to be on antibiotics if its causing her jaw to swell. She may need to eventually have the tooth removed as well. Is it her upper or lower jaw that's swollen. Have you looked at her teeth and gums to see if anything is broken or gums look red or swollen? If there's white stuff on her tooth or gums that looks like watery cottage cheese curd or custard, that's pus and is a sign of abscess. If its something else other than a tooth issue it will need to be assessed by a vet. Where are you located, perhaps someone knows of a ferret knowledgeable vet within reasonable travel distance to you. - Moderator(TD)].
