My younger ferret recently had a bout with red blood diarrhea that plagued her for weeks on and off.. The blood was bright red.  What FINALLY cleared it up was a combination of antibiotics and sucralfate.  We had tried antibiotics alone first, which helped, but then the issue would come back.  It wasn't until we added the sucralfate that the issue went away and STAYED away and she is now back to her old self again (getting into everything!).  She did not have an ulcer in her upper GI (evident by the bright red blood) but the sucralfate still helped to heal her.
