Subject: [ferrethealth] Need 2nd opinion on expired Deslorelin Implant
To: "ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com" <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>
With something that is packaged as "sterile"  the expiration date has  as much to do with that as with the drug itself.  Â
When an item is sterilized and sealed up, Â it is considered technically sterile for one year--depending on how it is packaged and stored. Â Â Â
Activity of the drug itself would be a chemistry question, but I think if your vet thinks its ok it probably is--they tend to err on the side of caution...

My 5 yr.old Cocoa has gotten 2 Deslorelin Implants in the last 18 months. She was only starting to show just a little bit of thinning hair when I got her the first one. Anyways it almost 9 months later and time for another one. The vet says it is ok for her to get an implant that expired in Aug of this year.
