Subject: [ferrethealth] Diazoxide

We just started our 7.5-year-old male on diazoxide two weeks ago. He has
insulinoma and crashed twice-hard-while we were out of town. Luckily, we
found a fabulous ferret vet. She ended up doubling his pred (.15 BID to .3
BID) and adding diazoxide (.5 BID). She said she often has success with the
two medications. Admittedly, it's only been two weeks, but we were able to
stop hand-feeding him after just a few days, and now he looks great. I have
seen no side effects whatsoever. I'm very optimistic about this medication.

Hello. Diazoxide will be called into a compounding pharmacy for my 6 year
old ferret today.
