I'm currently using the Z/D kibble for my boy Dozer, who is having ongoing problems associate with his IBD. I've been trying to wean him off his pred, and although he's never been on more than 1.0 mg per 24 hour period, he's gained too much weight between the pred and the Z/D kibble. He gets soup 3 times a day, a reduced amount compared to what he used to get, because he's either eating too much kibble, or it's too caloric, or both. So, while that doesn't directly answer your question, I do suspect that the Z/D has contributed to his weight gain. It also doesn't seem to have the same ability to move thru the digestive track and form the same type of solid waste that "regular" kibble does, but that may just be Dozer and his IBD problems.

>i've looked into hill's prescription diets for my boy who has gi issues. mostly ones like i/d or z/d. my only concern is that they both have a lot of carbs. especially z/d at >40 or so percent. i know places like ferret universe recommends stuff like z/d for ibd. and i wanted to ask has anyone tried either or had good luck with another type >of food for sensitive stomach fuzzies?
