As Tony pointed out you get sea salt from salts that had been dissolved in the water which crystalized out when the saltwater evaporated.

When you were a kid did you ever make sugar "rock" crystal candy by trying strings on sticks that were suspended above the solution of sugar and water and letting the water evaporate? As it evaporated the sugar which HAD been dissolved found itself in less and less water and on the strings first a film of sugar appeared and then after a while crystals of sugar?

Well, the same thing happens with the minerals, amino acids, and so on that normally are dissolved in urine when urine evaporates. Therefore, you can see that having them in the evaporate does not say if they were present as crystals (in slush form or in stone form) in the urine itself or appeared because of evaporation because they are normal dissolved components of urine.

Like Tony pointed out you need the vet can draw a clean urine sample from the bladder, and such material also often shows up on an x-ray of the bladder.

Your vet can also check the pH of the urine.

Sukie (not a vet)
