Thank you for your suggestion Sukie.. I just got off the phone with the company and she said that it IS 4ML for 1mg.. So apparently Ive been underdosing him.. Stupid me!.. So now I have to give him 4ml a day.. Im looking to see if someone carries a different brand.. Hopefully more potent..

[Another option is to get 1mg oral melatonin SUBLINGUAL pills and dissolve in some water and give him that. Sublingual means putting it under the tongue, these pills dissolve instantly in water. - Moderator (TD)].

Contact the manufacturer and ask the concentration if the bottle does not say something in the units
mg/ml
which is mg per ml

>From what you wrote it looks like PERHAPS there is a quarter of an mg (0.25 mg) in each ml since it says to take 4 ml as the standard dose but it calls itself 1 mg liquid. In that case you would have to give the ferret one heck of a lot of liquid. That wording is so very unclear, though, that it is not logical to assume that is really what they mean.

ml is the liquid volume and says NOTHING about how much medication is present in each unit of volume.

mg is the weight of the medication present.

It's like having a cup of chicken soup. The cup is the volume, but you could have it as broth in which case the weight of chicken in there would be tiny (only a low concentration), or you could have it as a dense soup with a lot of chicken in there in which case the weight of the chicken would be much greater.
