Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] slow release melatonin
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

Instead of going thru all of this hassle, and having to worry about dosing the right amount at the right time of the day every day, why not just get a melatonin implant? They last for 4 months, and you want some overlap, so re-implant after 3-1/2 months. They are not expensive and are more effective than oral melatonin. And, if your ferret is resistant to being syringe-fed this liquid melatonin every day, it will save him all of that stress, which can lead to other problems. 4.0 ml of liquid melatonin every day is A LOT to be putting into him daily, and he most likely does not need all the extra ‘stuff’ in the liquid suspension. Doing this may be more counter-productive than you realize.

Thank you for your suggestion Sukie.. I just got off the phone with the company and she said that it IS 4ML for 1mg.. So apparently Ive been underdosing him.. Stupid me!.. So now I have to give him 4ml a day.. Im looking to see if someone carries a different brand.. Hopefully more potent..
