The barium x-rays were not done because the exploratory surgery allowed the vet to thoroughly check for any kind of obstruction, and there wasn’t one, not even a little one. Right now we’re trying going back to prednisolone, 1.0 mg twice daily, and also making a radical diet change to a soup/kibble that is poultry-free and grain-free. It’s been 24 hours on it so far and I’m waiting to hear from the vet this morning, after which I’ll go in at some point soon to see how he is. The other consideration being made is to try Budesonide instead of pred. I was hoping to hear some feedback from anyone who has used this steroid with their ferrets, but so far I haven’t gotten any. The vets I use have used Budesonide with dogs with mixed results, but have not used it with ferrets.

Jeff,
Was a barium scan done?
Not only might this help to move any small obstruction that may be present and had gone undetected,'
but it will also soothe his intestine.
