I waited 24 hours to calm down before posting a reply. I'm glad Dr.
Sue, a ferret vet, basically told Mandy the same thing Tressie did:
this ferret must get to an experienced ferret vet now. There is no
alternative other than the death of the ferret. Spaying is surgery
and you need an experienced ferret vet to do the surgery.

I've had my share of difficulties in recent years. I have borrowed,
made payment arrangements, made transportation arrangements when a car
I had died on me, and done without so that my ferrets got proper
medical care when they needed it, including surgeries. I've lost a friend because I couldn't repay a debt promptly which really hurt. When you take a pet into your home you take responsibility for that animal's life. It doesn't matter if we're talking about a dog, a cat, a ferret, or another animal. They are your responsibility and they depend on you. In a life or death situation if you can't find a way to make a three hour trip to save a life the only remaining alternative is to surrender your ferret to someone who will get the necessary medical care done. Most shelters will. Simply allowing her to die of aplastic anemia would be incredibly cruel.

You're on disability. Life is hard. I understand. I really do.
This is your ferret and her life is in your hands. Find a way. Find
someone else to take her. It can be done somehow.

Right now my Zephyr needs about $200-$250 a month in medication to
sustain her life and her quality of life. I really can't afford that.
She still hasn't missed even one dosage since we started down this
path in July. She won't miss one either. I've made sure of that so
far and I will for as long as she lives.

I know what I just wrote sounds harsh. That's because it is harsh.
This isn't the first message I've seen like this on FHL and I honestly
don't know how the other moderators let them go. I can't. I probably
shouldn't be a moderator after all. I just can't sit by and shut up
and let an innocent animal die.
