Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Gas heat and ferrets
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have gas heat and have since I moved last winter. The vents are in
the ceiling so even the most intrepid ferret can't get to them. The
system is partially in the attic (I live upstairs) and partially out
in my back yard. I had gas heat when I was in Wisconsin. The vents
were bolted down. It is possible to do gas heat without any risk of a
ferret getting burned.

If you're worried about a gas leak, that I could see as a concern for
both people and ferrets. All you can do with any system is make sure
it's well maintained and kept as safe as humanly possible.

I personally don't believe gas heat is more or less dangerous to
ferrets than any other type of heat. The key is to see what kind of
steps the owners take to make sure their ferrets stay safe.

All the best,
Caity with Zephyr and Chin Soon
