If the top of the head is fully bald (and very kissable) that can be from the adrenal disease. We personally have encountered that when the growth is more serious than just a benign adrenal growth, when it is lymphoma in the adrenal, and have heard of it a few times when adrenal carcinoma is present. There was supposition at one point that the ones who develop bald heads might be over producing the adrenal androgens in quite a large amount along with the increased estrogens from the adrenal cortex, but I never heard if anyone actually looked to see if that hypothesis has foundation. Is the ferret also more aggressive and more interested in mating types of behaviors? I had to be very careful with my forearms and lower legs because when Hjalmar had lymphoma in his adrenal he would canine-grab them and try to mate.
