This medication is normally given to humans as one tablet in a quarter cup of water after soaking for about 10 minutes if I recall the timing for soaking right, but is all used at once (not stored) and I do not know if wet storage is safe for it or not, and do not know if wet storage may be safe and effective for the original but not the generics, or for some generics but not others. You might need to actually ask the manufacturers.
There is a very affordable liquid version of Carafate. Most pharmacies will provide it in small amounts. When we have had need to get it the amount has usually run us $15 to $20, so if your pharmacy won't sell the smaller amount take the prescription to a different pharmacy. A little goes a long way with ferrets often but i do not know how long in time you will need this med so am mentioning an alternative to what for a ferret would be a bulk purchase. Locally, we personally have found the A&P Pharmacy to be the most affordable/best priced for that (and actually for some other meds the ferrets have needed, too, but which pharmacy is going to be most helpful and most affordable is going to vary with location and medication so ask around in your area!).
