Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: ferret bleeding from his mouth
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

The one thing that would bother me is that he may also have some internal bleeding. If he has lymphoma and liver issues, there could be others. I lost one to a ruptured tumor on his liver but he was lethargic and not acting like the ferret you are describing. Blood loss will make him weak quickly. You may want to go ahead and check for an emergency clinic that will see him if necessary. The best guideline anyone passed along for me to use with a non-ferret vet willing to see a ferret was to treat them as if they are a kitten (surgically). I hope he has just a minor injury to his mouth. If you check for capillary refill and it takes more than 2 seconds or if he feels very cool, you may want to get him checked out sooner rather than later.
