Subject: [ferrethealth] Lump in lower abdomen out of the blue
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My male ferret, Mingo, just turned 5 on 11-26-11. On the 28th, out of the blue his lower abdomen was distended and there was a rather solid lump on the left side. He kept looking at me like "what is going on?, and Mom, something is wrong". He has never been ill. Took him to the Vet and did an Ultrasound and ruled out blockage. US showed nodule on Spleen and many spots all throughout his body, including adrenal, pancreas and a spot on his liver and the outer wall of the intestines. He has all of his hair and has shown no syptoms until the Spleen swelled up. He is eating and drinking and still engaged in play and normal activities(except the day of the swell). He eliminates just fine. I am lucky to be home with him all the time currently. He is on Pred and the swelling is down. Trying to keep him comfortable until he lets me know it's time to go. Why did this abruptly show up? Is this a common manifistation? Please educate me. Thanks.
