Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferret that won't get better
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

hi
i run a shelter and have been taken care of a friends ferret for over a week now. he has been sick for quite some time and my friend cant take care of him hense, me having him.

he has very bad water poops, some are dark brown, some are on the light black stage and no consistency what so ever. we have to hydrate him a couple times aday. he won't eat kibble and he drinks a very little bit of water. at present we have him on flagyl, amoxi, baytril twice a day. we were using the carafate and pepcid but he was ripping his nose and top of his mouth so badly we stop that. we have had xray, ultrasound, barium etc done on him and still he isn't better. my vet thought he might have an infection that wouldn't clear up but nothing has changed since he has had the antibotic for over a week now.

has anyone had anything like this and if so, what did you do for it? he has a little bit of energy and goes through the tubes and likes to go out side for a walk on the patio but besides that he just sleeps./

i am feeding him as much soup as i can get down him, even tried an IBD soup but i think it made it worse so he is back on reg soup now.

his mom doesn't know what she is going to do if he has to have this done all of the time.

anyone that can help me, please i am willing to try most anything to see if can make this little boy better.

Oh BTW,his name is chewie!!!!!
thanks
linda
