You need to find another vet right away. In my opinion, any vet who would knowingly suggest NOT treating a disease, and thus knowingly subjecting a ferret to the suffering that will then follow, is not fulfilling her duty to the ferret or to you. Or she absolutely knows nothing about adrenal disease in ferrets. And, she has also not explained the disease to you and how much pain it's symptoms can cause to a ferret.

Check the ferret vet locator for suggestions in your area: http://ferrethealth.org/vets/

Find a new vet right away. Don't let your little one suffer. Even a simple melatonin implant, around $50, will help A LOT more than trying to dose a fruit flavored liquid oral melatonin, which in all likelihood won't help at all at this stage. And, as mentioned in another post, a Deslorelin (Suprelorin) implant or Lupron Depot shots will help a lot more than just melatonin. You might see a remarkable turnaround for some time if you can find a vet with the Deslorelin implants.
