Subject: [ferrethealth] itching

I took in a rescue with advanced adrenal disease about ten days ago. He also has lymphoma, was very underweight and is completely blind. He has received a melatonin implant. He's obviously not a surgical candicate. Due to the adrenal disease, he is scratching non-stop. He is getting .2 ml of children's antihistamine twice a day and this helps a little. Someone recommended flax seed oil, which I'm going to pick up today. Any other suggestions? He's a very active and playful ferret for all his problems, but he's miserable with the constant itching.

[Lupron Depot or a Deslorelin implant would also help to treat the adrenal disease and may alleviate his itchiness. - Moderator (TD)].
