My little one scratches like he is having a seizure. I bought the flax seed oil but the little tigger won't touch it. He had adrenal surgery awhile ago and they removed the left adrenal but my vet doesn't feel comfortable taking out the right one and now the adrenal symptoms are back. He lost most of the fur on his tail and he scratches. Ferguson has a melatonin implant in right now. I had two melatonin implants left over from my little girl LuLu who passed away at the age of 9 and she also had adrenal but due to her age I didn't want to put her through the surgery. I have been researching deslorelin implants and have found two other ferret owners who have used them and I am just waiting for a reply to see how they made out on them. Let me know how you make out with the flax see oil. Someone else mentioned emu oil which I saw at the health food store.

[If you enter 'deslorelin' into the search field you will get lots of posts discussing the effectiveness of deslorelin implants.
Ferrets' systems are not designed to process botanically based sources of Omega 6 oils like flax seed, but will assimilate Omega 3 from emu or fish oil.
Itchiness from adrenal disease is not likely to respond very well to supplements, which do not address the cause of the itching, in this case adrenal disease. -Moderator (TD)].
