To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My youngest ferret has had adrenal surgery to remove the left adrenal and my vet will not remove the right as he doesn't feel comfortable doing the surgery. The story is a little complicated. I have only used the melatonin implant but was researching the deslorelin implant. Ferguson started showing signs of adrenal again, losing the fur on his tail and the constant itching. He now has a melatonin implant in as of October 13th of this year. The fur on his tail has completely regrown, his weight has remained constant at .98 kg. his appetite has picked up and he is playing a little more. I have one more melatonin implant for him after the six months are up. So unless I can find someone to remove the right adrenal after he has more blood work I was contemplating the deslorelin implant.

Secord Animal Hospital is the vet clinic that the Ferret Aid Society uses and they just emailed me to tell me they have ordered the deslorelin for a volunteers ferret. I am now trying to find out as much info about the implant before I use it.

Thank you for the info.

Lynda, Ferguson and Spencer.
