Subject: [ferrethealth] Potential adrenal baby, questions?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi!
My husband and I think that one of our boys, Stoli, is potentially adrenal. We've noticed a few changes in him recently that may be red flags.
He is a rescue from a family that fed him dog food. We have had him for 1.5yrs. We are very unsure of his age as the previous owners "didn't know" Vet estimates 3.
He has started to feel less "plump" he's always been a thin guy and right now weighs a little more than 2lbs. But he feels bony now, especially in the hind quarters. I have been monitoring a patch of hair at the base of his tail that seems to be regrowth. The base of his tail has kind of a 'ring' around it (no hair loss) that may be the beginning of rat tail.
He's always been kinda lazy and slightly uncoordinated in the rear on hardwood floors. He does get up and play, but tires out easier than our others. He does "go crazy" and eats (high quality kibble) and drinks normally. Poops are occasionally mucusy but return to normal.
6mo ago at the vet everything was fine. We have an appt. on Tuesday to go again for checkups.

We do not have experience with this disease. What should I be asking the vet? What tests should I ask for? I want to make sure he gets what he needs before it's bad.
Thank you!

[Sounds more like possibility of insulinoma, although could also be other concommitant health issues, like adrenal disease and/or heart disease. Have his blood glucose checked for sure. If your vet is ferret knowledgeable, he will know what additional things to check for. - Moderator (TD)].
