Subject: [ferrethealth] Bulging eye
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I write in the name of an acquaintance who has a problem with a male ferret.

The ferret went to an appointment at the vet for ecography (it has adrenal disease and had to be implanted several times up to now), a cleaning of the teeth and minor surgery to take the old implants out.

The ferret showed no signs of eye problems until after the procedures described above and nothing has been done in this time to hurt the eye, such as hitting or scratching the eye by mistake.

One eye is bulging forward ever since (1 month ago) just enough not to allow the eyelid to close completely over the eye. The vet prescribed antibiotics and anti inflammatory medication, artificial tears, a special gel, but there seems to be no improvement. Also a swab was sent to lab and came back negative. The eye is just popped out, but it looks healthy, clear, no strange discharge, just the typical light irritation due to the eye being open for long.

Do you have any idea what this might be?

Any feedback is highly appreciated.

Warmest regards,

Roxana
