We had a ferret with similar issues the first vet wanted to treat it topically and with oral antibiotics, unfortunately the bulging continued , at which point the vet wanted to suture the lid closed and continue to treat.
My inner feeling was this wa wrong on a 7 yr ferret, so we sought a second opinion. The second vet was confident the eye needed to be removed. I was allowed to sit in and when the eye was surgically removed a tumor (retrobulbar) emerged through the eye cavity. The ferret was euthanized while under surgical anesthesia. I was sorry that i allowed the ferret to suffer under the first vet. Please get a second opinion.
