I, too, received a recent rescue that was a biter ... turns out that she had been used as target practice by the kids who had her before ... they shot at her with a BB gun ... as well as tossing her through the air ... needless to say, she had little trust in humans ... so when she came to me, I couldn't even hold her without her attempting to bite ... she nailed me good four times, drawing blood ... what I would do was to scruff her, cradling her as I held her and GENTLY brush her nose with my finger while giving a verbal NO that sounded more like a grunt than anything else, then moving to her belly and giving her gentle strokes ... while she was "in the zone" from being scruffed, I would lay her down on her back and rub her belly ... of course, as she came out of her scruff stupor, she would try to bite ... but we turned it in to a game as I would get her ... being quick with my movements but also letting her know that we were playing and that I
wasn't being aggressive ... it took a few months, but now she is the sweetest thing ... which proves a whole lot of love and patience goes a long way ...
