One thing to consider with Hog is that you might want to control his food intake a little for a while. I've taken in "starved" ferrets before who then got "all they could eat" of good food under my care. Usually they do just fine with the increased and improved quality food, BUT I did have one boy, and I;ve heard of others, who did develop a bad problem, and ultimately died a few weeks later. The thing is that going from bad quality and/or low quantity of food to the polar opposite, and then eating a ton, could "shock" their digestive system and cause problems. One boy I got, who was literally almost starved to death and couldn't even stand when I got him, improved a ton with me when given nutritious soup and having good kibble available at all times. He also did have ulcers, which I cleared up, BUT then about 2 months after getting him, he developed a horrible stomach problem that could not be cured, with rampant diarrhea, and he ultimately had to be put to sleep. On the other hand, his brother, who came with him and was almost as bad off, did great under my care and never had any food related problems. I've also heard of others who have taken in starved ferrets, and later had problems, possibly because of the shock to the system of all of that food so quickly. So, maybe take things a little slower with Hog until he adjusts more gradually to the new environment.
