Dr. Ruth,

I had a ferret who was suspected of having hypothyroidism, however, there were no established diagnostic protocols for ferrets available at the time to confirm/disconfirm the diagnosis. The testing protocol i.e., T4 levels used for dogs was not believed to be an accurate measure, especially given this ferret had a host of other health issues and was on a number of medications already. We could not find an expert who could recommend diagnostics for hypothyroidism.

What would you recommend as a test for hypothyroidism in a ferret?
