Hi , thank you so much for your advice. No , salmonella hasn't been discussed, no fecal analysis has been done but will now mention this to the vet. The last Metacam she had was on Sunday and yes I'm quite sure this made her worse.Hills A/D has just been ordered from the vet and will be in tomorrow along with the antibiotic & stomach protector.Have just come back from the vets now and she is not dehydrated. The vet dipped her urine showed blood & glucose, so small pinprick blood was taken and no glucose was found in blood. She was weighed ( 790 grams ) To see vet in 1 week & see progress, to start meds tomorrow.

Hi, my ferret has been very ill and lost enormous amounts of weight and very weak on hind legs. History as follows:-
Last Weds, stools dark , thin & not very well formed,no appetite for her usual food ( kibble & chicks ) took to vets was given antibiotics & metacam, at this time she was eating chopped chicken breast by hand.
Friday returned to vet no improvement stools changed to dark green and bright green alternating and getting very runny, still eating good quantity of chicken breast by hand.
Vet booked her in for monday morning for bloods & x-ray. Last fed at 6am, took to vet , was due to be done straight away but wasn't in fact until approx 1.30pm picked her up at 4.30pm ( by now she hadn't eaten all day )she has not eaten solid food since and is now weds am. I have been giving her Oxbow Carnivore Care which she has been licking of spoon & saucer but I don't know in what quantity is enough to keep her going. Her pooh now is formed and light to mid brown with a tinge of orange but thin pooh. X-ray results - nothing abnormal discovered apart from slightly enlarged heart ( have been given tablets to crush up for this)
Blood results point to bleeding intestines, very anaemic and bilrubin. Vet suggests treatment for Helicobacter infection.
Antibiotcs & stomach protector need to be ordered in, due tomorrow Thursday. Any ideas please on how much of this carnivore feed is needed to keep her going until meds arrive and start to work. Any other diets you can suggest that are really mild on her stomach that she may eat and how do I eventually get her back on solid food. ANY advice would be very much appreciated I am so worried for her and am so tired ( have been trying to feed 2 hourly ).

I generally mix a heaping teaspon of Carnivore Care to a quarter can (5.5 oz.) of a wet palatable food like Hills Prescription A/D, pure pumpkin and finally, add some warm water. It mixes better if added to the food then first adding it to the water - don't know if you have A/D available in the UK? Medi-Cal Recovery (Royal Canin) is an alternative. Plain chicken baby food is another good choice.
I am assuming she is no longer on the metacam? That will definitely exacerbate any intestinal/stomach irritation. - Moderator (TD)].
