Okay, first it actually is not FIP, but FIP-like Ferret Corona Virus, a mutant of ECE. (Yes, genetics work has been done on that.)
Ferrets with regular ECE will also test positive with the general coronavirus test, so if that was what was done, please, realize that test can not tell the various types of coronavirus apart.
If IS important to know that because the FIP-like version has been a problem to try to treat (and I will forward your post to someone who is both a veterinarian and a pharmacologist who has been working on treatments.
The only place that does the more more difficult genetic tests to be sure if it is the FIP-like coronavirus is the Ferret Health Advancement group at Michigan State:

Hopefully, you are dealing with the more common GI version of ECE rather than the newer mutant.
