My ferret Maxi had an enlarged spleen & had it removed...the surgery went well.
The vet said it is a very common procedure & most ferrets recover to live normal lives afterwards.
We didn't know how old he was...we had adopted him 2 & 1/4 years prior.
Unfortunately, he developed severe anemia shortly following that treatment...and he sadly died within 6 months, after chemotherapy, which did give him some good quality of life for sometime.
Regarding the surgery, I do think he felt better after having the enlarged spleen removed. His was very large (6-8 X normal), so he must have been so uncomfortable with that inside his tummy.
