The thing to do is to do actual blood measurements because there WILL be a placebo effect, on BOTH him from the attention and on you from your desire to have an effect happen, so you need to separate those out as well as possible, and the numbers will do at least part of that (though placebo effects can at times be strong enough to even better numbers because frankly the brain is a very amazing organ). Try to time to testing about the same time each day and the same amount of time after he has eaten.
