We use the Alpha Trak on dog setting which is the one that Dr. Jerry Murray recommends. Human ones can give direction but are not always reliable for actual numbers. One thing we have found is that some individuals are very, very hard to get blood from and some clot very rapidly. For one of ours we had to use a syringe needle to get blood and had to try a variety of places on his body (sides of pads, tail, ear flaps) since some worked better on different days.
