Hi Holly and others,
Time to review what Vanadyl is used for and how it is
speculated to work. Vanadyl is used mostly for type 2
DIABETES to help LOWER the blood glucose level!
It is thought to have "insulin like activity" and to reduce the amount
of glucose the liver makes.
Both of these actions would be very bad for a ferret with low blood
glucose levels from an insulinoma. Vanadyl also has GI side effects
and can be toxic to the kidneys.
Thus I would not recommend this for use in insulinoma ferrets,
