Hi Julie,

I think it is extremely important to have a urinalysis done if it hasn't already been done. If he has a lot of squamous cells (a good indicator of adrenal disease), it could be potentially causing a partial obstruction and be causing things to back up and affect the kidneys. We need to know if he has a urinary tract infection too. Sometimes they can have no bacteria in the bladder but have bacteria in the kidneys (pyelonephritis). After he has been on antibiotics and fluids for a few days the kidney values (BUN, creatinine, and phosphorus are important) should be rechecked.
