I know far too little about Vanadyl BUT i have seen ferret expert vets here raise multiple reasons for cautions.
Because i know too little i looked it up a bit though I lack time tomdelve deeply enough.
Besides doing the bloodwork I think that in your shoes I would do the following:
Have the treating vet contact some experts
Go into both Pub Med and Google Scholar to search and read
Read the bad as well as the good to have a full picture and to know what signs might spell impending trouble
Trying something new means knowing the risks so that a person can jump properly. We have been there and what you need to do is to not treat it like a faith situation, but like an investigation because something things can go terribly wrong and from what the experts have written that is real risk in your case.
