Holly, did you try traditional treatment with prednisolone at all?  If you did, for how long?  And then I would ask very detailed questions about how much critter was eating and how often. 

The standard treatment we use, pred and nutritional management and support, doesn't "work" immediately to fix everything that's wrong if you will.  Rather it can take a critter a week to 2 months to get back to "normal" if you will; that is feeling better, eating normally under his/her own power, etc.  So I wonder what you tried (I missed the first part of this discussion) and for how long you tried it.
