Holly, I just read this original message. If your ferret is having trouble with ulcers, you can treat those ulcers with meds and nutritional support. We use flagyl and amoxi and carafate as our cocktail, plus a ferret with ulcers should have a good meal going in every (no less than) 3 hour, if not more frequently.
Have you seen a vet with this critter? That vet can prescribe the ulcer meds. Ulcers are no reason to stop pred; rather you need to treat the ulcers and prevent with frequent feedings.
If your critter has lymphoma as well, that's the second reason to be on pred. So pred is your proven treatment here. Be very careful about a holistic medication. Remarkably unregulated, there is nothing to stop any fool from bottling up any old thing and selling it. And you are always likely to find someone out there that swears by it, too.
