I have to disagree, Jeff.  While flagyl does taste horrible, you can mitigate with a 'tone chaser and other soothing.  I've seen flagyl literally save lives...critters who were bleeding near to death, where double dose flagyl given three times daily was required, in addition to the other meds.  I use it more today than I have at any other time to fight ulcers and I wouldn't consider skipping it.

I've never had to treat a critter for 4-6 weeks.  That's not to say I haven't nursed a critter for that long; of course some are slow to get back to kibble and enjoy the hammie side mushie service so much they become spoiled little time wasters!  hahaha  But I've not had to continue meds for so long.

Important to note since so many people don't realize:  when your vet gives you a bottle of amoxi it's likely a HUGE bottle in comparison to the few ml's your ferret will need.  You can NOT use this bottle for 4-6 weeks!  Amoxi is only good for 10-14 days and then, like other expired antibiotics, it becomes dangerous.  So if you're going to treat a ferret long term with amoxi, you need fresh at each expiration date.
