Does Prednisilone also come in a liquid form. I was told by a Vet that it only came in an injectable form. Also, is Dexamethasone a direct replacement for Prednislone, and is it easier on a ferret's tummy? I am told that it is also very expensive.

(Pred is certainly available in a liquid oral form as Pediapred or as a compounded formulation. Dex is an alternative to pred and is a more powerful steroid (10x more stronger). It is available as tablets. In human studies it had less side effects than pred. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11445789 http://adc.bmj.com/content/91/7/580 Important precaution regarding Dex
"Dexamethasone is considered to be a long acting steroid, meaning that a dose lasts about two or two-and-a-half days. For this reason an every other day schedule will be excessive for dexamethasone; every third day (or less) is the goal for dexamethasone." http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_dexamethasone.html Your vet should be able to guide you on this. - Moderator (TD)]
