About a drop -- not just a droplet -- which wicks into side of the strip which is held against the blood.

If it is not enough or if the ferret has very rapid clotting blood (a problem we have encountered) then it might not be possible to get a reading before the strip is no longer any good.

In the archives there are instructions for getting blood from the tail, and we have even had to get it from a small vessel on the ear flap.

For ferrets use the dog setting -- number 7 -- on the Alpha Trak, not the cat or horse settings.
