Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferret diagnosed with insulinoma
To: "ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com" <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

My ferret Missy was diagnosed with insulinoma about 2-3 weeks ago.  When we first found out her blood sugar was 68 and her weight was 2 lbs 4 oz.  She has been on Prednisolone .02 cc twice a day and when I took her to the vet today her blood sugar was 65 and her weight is now 1lbs 9oz.  The vet has now doubled the dose of Prednisolone to .04cc twice a day.  I'm really worried about her and I'm not sure what to do.  The vet told me to make some ferret soup for her with Turkey baby food, water, kibble, a/d prescription cat food <because it's really high in calo for her>, and Nupro ferret Supplemnt.

I've never had to go thru this with any of my ferrets so I don't really know what to do.  Does anyone have any idea's to help me out.  She was also diagnosed with adrenal gland disorder March of 2010.  She had received on implant then and she hasn't needed one since then.

Thanks for the help,
Sonya & Jameson +8
