Subject: [ferrethealth] Advice on blood tests
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hi
My ferret Booboo has lost quite a bit of weight in the last week and has
vomited 4 times. His poos are ok and he is eating and drinking, but not
eating as much as usual. He has been lethargic and not as perky as usual.
I took him to the vet today, but my usual ferret vet is away, so I got
someone who hasn't dealt with ferrets before. He had some blood tests and
she told me the results weren't completely normal, but that she thinks
maybe he has a stomach infection. Because she is not my usual vet and some
of the results weren't in a normal range, I was wondering if anyone spots
any warning signs in the results.
They are:
ALB = 32 g/l
ALKP = 33 U/L
ALT = 39 U/L
AMYL = 31 U/L
UREA = 7.2 mmol/L
CHOL = 3.71 mmol/L
CREA = 70 umol/L
GLOB = 36 g/L
GLU = 6.93 mmol/L
PHOS = 1.15 mmol/L
TBIL = 3 umol/L
TP = 68 g/L
I really hope I'm being paranoid, it's just that I am going through
lymphoma in my other guy, so I worry a lot about Booboo.
Best wishes,
Teresa
