Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: What methods of taking bloods are there and are they painful? Pl

Tony you are so correct, a good vet is worth their weight in gold!!!

My vet never has to give any anesthesia to get blood, my vet never has to shave my ferrets to get blood, my vet never takes blood anywhere but the neck. In fact my vet has shown other vets how to get blood from a ferret.

Getting blood from a ferret shouldn't be painful at all. In fact my ferrets hate the alcohol swab the worst! I'm not sure where you live but you can email me privately and I can give you the name and address of my vet.

If your ferret is having trouble waking up this could be a sign of insulinoma. You can check his BG (blood glucose) at home with your own glucose meter using the end of his tail.
