It is a bad position for all. Merial does not dedicate enough production line time because some other vaccines made on that line are more profitable, BUT no other vaccines have been tested to see if they even work on ferrets, and only one has even a minor safety study but it was incredibly short term and done on only a handful of male kits.

The best option remains doing titers, with info on that in the separate and easily searched archives you can reach from multiple places on the FHL hompage. That way at least people will know which of their ferrets have protection, and there is also info in there on avoiding bringing in CDV.

If enough do titers it will be known which options actually work, and if a competitor wants to sell to ferret people it really should provide the vaccines and cover the titers done before and after their vaccines, at least for shelters.
